The Balancing Act: The Beer of Belgium
Craft beer is a term we've all come to associate with great beer, made by passionate people on a small scale. Craft beer has come to mean supporting your local breweries and drinking widely, diversely but perhaps most importantly, naively.
At Drygate we believe that no one knows everything about beer. We believe that in a World where new breweries, styles and opinions are popping up every day. We want to talk to you about beer. Do you want to know the difference between a Pale Ale and an India Pale Ale, between a dunkel and a dubbel, between a German weissbier and a Belgian witbier?
Every month at Drygate we will be holding The Vintage Beer Club. One of the craft beer aficionados from behind our bars will be hosting a tasting in our bar and taking through the beer style jungle. Every month will be of a different theme; the history and stories behind the styles will be discussed and examples of the styles will be tasted, critiqued and evaluated amongst friends.
Summer is drawing to an end and the nights are beginning to close in. The summer session ale days are over for another year, which means one thing. The dark beers are back. The roasted banana of a dunkelweiss, the sweet coffee of a milk stout to the mind boggling hop of a black IPA are all testament to the intricacies of dark malt based beer. Jamie, one of our resident beer specialists, will be guiding you through the world of dark beer, telling you how malt can impact on flavour, colour and body of beer styles from across the globe.
