Vintage Beer Club20 Nov
Hop Focus: From Ahtanum to Zeus
Craft beer is a term we've all come to associate with great beer, made by passionate people on a small scale. Craft beer has come to mean supporting your local breweries and drinking widely, diversely but perhaps most importantly, naively.
At Drygate we believe that no one knows everything about beer. We believe that in a World where new breweries, styles and opinions are popping up every day. We want to talk to you about beer. Do you want to know the difference between a Pale Ale and an India Pale Ale, between a dunkel and a dubbel, between a German weissbier and a Belgian witbier?
Every month at Drygate we will be holding The Vintage Beer Club. One of the craft beer aficionados from behind our bars will be hosting a tasting in our bar and taking through the beer style jungle. Every month will be of a different theme; the history and stories behind the styles will be discussed and examples of the styles will be tasted, critiqued and evaluated amongst friends.
Hopheads rejoice. We live in times that throw up a new hop variety what seems like every week. However, do any of really know the difference between the crisp, grassiness of Saaz and the piney, resin of Chinook. Chris, one of our resident beer specialists, will take you on a journey of hop discovery. From single hopped American pale ales to the funky umami of Sorachi Ace stouts, be prepared to go on a journey you never believed possible.
