2015 - You've Been Exceptional
The 'Seven Peaks' logo that adorns Drygate represents, along with our iconic roof, the journey from the Everyday to the Exceptional; When we took our first steps as Drygate Brewing Co. we invited the world to join us on our myrcene pilgrimage & in 2015 we stayed true to our word, throwing open our doors to those with open minds.
Cultivating breweries such as Floodline & Monolith on their mission to take their own great beers from the kitchen (or shed, we don't judge) to the world. We've thrown our doors open to non-brewers as well, allowing novices & experts alike the opportunity to brew with us on our 250L studio kit, as well as opening the brewery for tours & hosting guided tastings in our Brewhouse Restaurant.
We’ve collaborated with innovators in art, fashion, food, drink, music, comedy and many more including Glasgow Film Festival, Glasgow International Comedy Festival, Glasgow School of Art, Glasgow Jazz festival, The List Magazine, The Great British Barber Bash, SIBA Scotland and London’s Craft Beer Rising beer festival.
2015 saw us venture into Club nights to great acclaim along with a fearless programme of live music featuring local talent along with international legends. Gilded Balloon has continuously kept us laughing by providing a programme of thee best comics on the UK circuit and beyond. We have had the pleasure of watching and enjoying the growth of the Urban Market and our Seven Peaks hosted our very first Drygate wedding.
We celebrated our first birthday back in May, throwing a wee shindig with some of our favourite brewery pals & launching our first 'Apex' beer: Peak 01, a 7.2% saison-hybrid conditioned on strawberries, raspberries & longpepper. Collaborating with our friends at Glasgow School of Art on the design of the bottle label – 6 bespoke wrappers each signed by the artists. We curated a striking exhibition from all entries along with some of the artist’s personal works.
We've welcomed new friends of the liquid kind, with Ax Man, our 5% Rye IPA joining our Core Range while we continue to experiment & expand our range of Studio Brew beers introducing new favourites like our Rhubarb & Custard Dunkel. We were also delighted that our cask IPA Seven Peaks won silver in the SIBA Scotland 2015 Beer Competition while also winning Gold in the 'Strong Bitters & Pale Ales' category.
The journey through the year has seen a number of changes. With heavy hearts we’ve said goodbye to a few but also saw the opportunity to expand our team & bring in fresh ideas to lead us fearlessly into 2016.
Big thanks to all that has been part of it. We look forward to you joining us on our journey in 2016 and opening the door to many more open minds. First up – Celtic Connections!
